1-on-1 Self-Rescue Survival Swim Instruction

At LWIA, our goal is to inform parents and empower children in order to minimize the number of fatal drowning incidents in our community.

We focus on survival and mix in a lot of fun!

Knowledge is power!

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children aged 1-4.
Drowning is fast & silent- it takes as little as 20-60 seconds, in as little as 2 inches of water.
80% of child drownings happen in a residential pool while an adult was present.
Children younger than 1 are more likely to drown at home, in a pool, bathtub, pond, or bucket of water.
Formal swim lessons have been shown to reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%.

We teach children to enjoy the water safely.

When you invest in swim lessons with LWIA, your infant can learn to hold their breath in water and roll from a face-down position to a face-up back float. We teach them to float, relax, and breathe until rescued by an adult. When ready, your child will practice these skills fully clothed in order to simulate a true water accident. You will gain peace of mind knowing your child is learning to perform these life-saving skills in a controlled and safe environment with their instructor close-by.

Children who are walking and developmentally ready will also practice:

Swimming with their face in the water to the steps, side, or parent.
Rolling over onto their back when they need to breathe.
Flipping back onto their tummy to continue to swim until reaching their destination or roll to their back should they need to breathe again.
This is called the swim-float-swim sequence!
